HIKING
The opening of mountain hiking trails is dependent on the snow pack. Whistler
Mountain alpine trails are expected to open in July, 2005. Trails up other
mountains will be opening soon, with mid-June access as a good bet.
Example: There are two major trails in the area of Garibaldi Park: Cheakamus
Lake Trail - The Cheakamus Lake Trail works its way through
old growth forest along its 3 km and takes about 45 min. to complete.
Parking lot to Cheakamus Lake - Length, 3 km; suggested time, 45 minutes to 1
hour, one way; elevation change, minimal. An easy, pleasant trail that winds
through old growth timber. It is possible to portage a kayak or canoe on this. |
